My journey into physical therapy began in my junior year of high school, when I started volunteering in a PT clinic. After graduating HS, I enlisted in the US Army and worked as a Physical Therapy Assistant, stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. After the military I completed my undergraduate degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Then completing my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Michigan – Flint.
My physical therapy career began at the University of Michigan Health System, working outpatient with clients with orthopedic and neurologic injuries. I then spent 5 years working at UF Health, again with individuals with orthopedic and neurologic deficits. I then worked as an assistant professor for 5 years, teaching neurologic and orthopedic courses for an entry-level DPT program. After teaching for 5 years, I wanted to get back to truly helping people. So in 2019, I moved to Arizona on the Navajo Reservation to help a truly underprivileged population.
In 2024 I started a fellowship in Manual Therapy to improve upon my skills. I also returned to Gainesville to be closer to family. I truly enjoyed my time at UF Health, working in both inpatient and outpatient therapy, over 10 years in total. But as with most larger companies, there are significant limitations in what I can do working for UF. Which is why I started my own clinic. To be able to treat clients in a way I could not previously working for hospital-based systems. One-on-one care, every single visit. Hour-long appointments. To be able to use skills (dry needling, SMT) in which I have been limited to.
So here it is, a new clinic combined with Flo Motion Fitness. Slightly more aggressive than basic PT but understanding when to adjust to my clients. Hands on care, not just exercises. Various modalities (Dry Needling, SMT, Blood Flow Restriction, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound) to help get my clients better and faster. I believe in challenging oneself, and evidence-based research-guided treatments.
